Well last Saturday, April 9th, over the weekend, was a very special event that took place at The Thelma Webber Community Center.

Ministries, had 870 lbs of frozen chicken donated to her. But she wasn't quite sure where to send it all too, especially considering all that chicken frozen. Well, since first Janet and had met it was quite obvious to me, that our meeting was meant to be. https://www.facebook.com/HISMinistriesSantaFe/ As soon as Janet called me, to ask if by chance, did I know of any community resources that could use and cook that much frozen chicken,' immediately it was Councilman Fidencio Leija Jr. who came to mind. And as God would have it, Janet and the councilman got together and made it all happen, with the volunteer assistance of "Santa Fe Family Service" and "The Galveston County Recovery Oriented Systems Of Care" (ROSC). https://www.facebook.com/santafefamilyservice/about/... https://www.facebook.com/GalvestonCountyROSC/ Although Councilman Leija has his own cooking team, that caters to numerous public community events, with a full service mobile grill, it was Granger Gardner, and his team of grill experts that had volunteered his own, mobile grill, and got the chicken job done! Speaking of Volunteering, I had appointed myself, as (volunteer quality control inspector) and had to see if that chicken passed the test. LOL! And O-M-G! Tender, juicy, and smack down deeeeeelicous! As a team, we all took our positions in the Thelma Webber kitchen and everything ran like clockwork. The serving team, lead by Councilman Leija and his equally hard working wife, Krissy Leiga, were on a roll! So many seniors had shown up, and the 870lbs of yard bird? Gone! Every last leg quarter, with a side of buttered corn and green beans. Now that's what people helping people is all about! Whether it be supporting veterans, and first responders, or care giving to seniors, the disabled, and families with children in need,' Team Leija is always on the move and in service! https://www.facebook.com/SFTXishome
