“The Night Before Christmas — Down the Gulf Coast”

🌙 “The Night Before Christmas — Down the Gulf Coast”

’Twas the night before Christmas, in Galveston and Brazoria,
From the seawall to farmland, it was pure holiday euphoria 🎅✨
The palm trees were strung with lights shining bright and merry,
And boats rocked in the harbor like sleighs on the ferry 🚤🎄

The oysters were nestled on ice nice and chilled,
While tamales and gumbo left bellies fulfilled 🌮🦀
The children were dreaming of toys big and grand,
From LEGO sets to dirt bikes for riding the sand 🧱🏍️

Mama in her boots, and I in my cap,
Had just settled in for a long winter’s nap 🥾😴
When out on the bay came a splash and a roar,
Like waves crashing wild on the Gulf’s sandy shore 🌊

I sprang from my hammock, dashed out to the deck,
Nearly spilled my sweet tea — oh, what the heck! ☕
The moon glowed on surfboards and crab traps below,
Making the coastline sparkle like freshly laid snow 🏄‍♂️❄️

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear?
But a lifted red truck full of holiday cheer! 🚘💨
With a driver so lively, so jolly and quick,
I knew in a moment — that’s Saint Nick-a-Lone-Star-Graves! 😎⭐

More rapid than eagles, his helpers they came,
He whistled and hollered and called them by name:
“Now Buc-ee! Now Gulf-Guy! Now Jet-Ski and Flounder!
On Tiki! On Surf-Shack! On Blue-Crab Commander!” 🐟🦀🔥

“To the top of the causeway! To the top of the roof!
We deliver to counties — that’s living proof!” 📦💥
So up to the rooftops his crew flew with pride,
While dolphins jumped waves right alongside 🐬

And then, in a flash, from the bay to the lawn,
Came the jingling sound of boots marching on 🥾🎶
As I turned ‘round the corner, cheeks salty from spray,
Down the chimney he came, in a Texas Gulf way! 🧨🎅

He was dressed in coastal gear from his head to his feet,
With sand in his pockets and a sack full of treats 🏖️🍬
His hat was a cowboy, his beard wild and white,
Like foam from the waves in the calm moonlight 🌊🤍

His eyes how they twinkled! His grin bold and slick!
His laugh sounded like thunder — a real Texas ST. Nick! ⚡🤣
He spoke not a word, but got straight to his mission,
Checked Galveston twice and reviewed the commission 📜🎄

He filled all the stockings with local-made goods,
From boutiques and trade pros in small neighborhoods 🛍️🔧
Plumbers, bakers, toy shops, and artists so grand,
All supported by Christmas and Gulf Coast demand 💼❤️

He gave me a wink, tipped his hat just so right,
And shouted, “Shop LOCAL this Christmas night!” 🛒⭐
Then he jumped in his truck, crew packed in the back,
And off through the counties with his jumbo gift stack 🎁

But I heard him exclaim, as he sped out of sight…
“Merry Christmas, Gulf Coast! Y’all have a good night!” 🎅🌴✨

Lighthouse Charity Team is with Blue Santa of Galveston Police Department.

A surprise Visitor from the North (Texas) not Pole
On Saturday the kids of Galveston were blessed to have a special Santa‘s helper arrive with an 18 wheeler full to the brim of toys.
As is the case for several years now, the Lighthouse Charity Team has been honored to provide the facility for Blue Santa to make the lives of Galveston children so much better in this Christmas season.
Here are just a couple pictures of the special elves that made this donation possible.
Many thanks to Santa’s special helpers DALACE Duvall and Diamond Wishes Children’s Charity.
