He was the First Black Millionaire in the Great State of Texas.
He was born in 1866 in a town called College Mound and was the son of a former Slave.
He got his education in Tennessee and came back to Texas working as a Principal in a all Black school, where by the way he meet his wife.
He was very big the Republican Party of Texas and National. He was part of a Black Republican organization called the (Black and Tans) which was part of the National Party.
In 1892 he was elected to serve on SREC (State Republican Executive Committee) and became Temporary Chairman and then in 1898 he became Permanent Chairman. He helped build the Republican Party in his area Kaufman county and was a Delegate to many Republican National Conventions.
He was a member of the Masons organization and Founded the Fraternal Bank-Trust Company, was the First Black Bank in the city of Fort Worth.
We many Black Organizations started to put their money in the Bank ( because White owned Banks wouldn't let Blacks in), McDonald started to make a a Hugh amount of money.
He started to help Black owned Businesses to rise and be Strong.
McDonald was doing such a Great job with his bank that during the Great Depression while other banks was closing, he's stayed open.
William McDonald died on July 5, 1959 in Fort Worth.
