Happy JOE DICKSON DAY!
At last night’s City Council meeting, the Mayor presented a proclamation which declared July 28, 2021, as Joe Dickson Day, to celebrate the selfless leader the City had the pleasure of working with for the past eight months.
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in December of 2020 the City of Dickinson, Texas hired Joe Dickson to serve as interim City Manager.
Our City faced many challenges at that time. Pending elections guaranteed a change in city leadership, the office of City Administrator had been abruptly vacated, and there was great uncertainty within City Hall.
The City was in desperate need of a calming influence and a steady hand at the helm and;
WHEREAS, Mr. Dickson brought 30 years of public service experience to Dickinson and provided the leadership necessary to calm troubled waters.
Mr. Dickson jumped into the role headfirst. He allayed concerns among City employees, quickly established a working relationship with City Council, and worked tirelessly to rebuild trust with the community.
Whenever a problem or crisis arose, Mr. Dickson handled it calmly and professionally and;
WHEREAS, Joe Dickson’s last day of employment with the city of Dickinson is July 27th, 2021.
The city of Dickinson owes him thanks for his hard work, leadership, and devotion to the community. Joe was happily retired when the City asked him to serve as interim City Manager.
It would have been easy for Mr. Dickson to continue to enjoy his retirement. His acceptance of this position speaks to how highly he values public service.
The City salutes his service and wishes him a long and happy retirement.
NOW THEREFORE I, Sean Skipworth, Mayor of the City of Dickinson, in the great State of Texas, do hereby proclaim July 28th, 2021, as Joe Dickson Day.
Thank you, Joe, for all you’ve done. Enjoy retirement 2.0!
