Did you know you can borrow a dog for the day through the Galveston County Animal Resource Center? The program is free and open to the public. You just need to be at 18 years or older with a valid ID photo to schedule a time to pick out an adoptable dog from the Texas City shelter. Take them on a day trip to the beach, the park or even home to snuggle and watch a movie and then return them to the shelter the same day by 4:30 p.m.

The Borrow a Dog for a Day program is available each week, Tuesday-Saturday. You can schedule to pick up a dog anytime between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. A harness, leash and poop bags are provided for the trip.

To make an appointment, please call 409.948.2485 or email arc@gchd.org.
